LIFE UPDATE: 21, GRADUATION & THE REST OF IT

Hello, hi. Welcome back guys.

Whew chile, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Quite Frankly has been neglected for a little under a month and I most definitely felt it. I haven’t been here at my space for a long time and originally, that wasn’t the plan. Last year, I still posted during exam season and this year I had the same plan. I still even have the post I had written on time to put up (you guys will probably see it next week). However, when the time came to post it, I was feeling trash and just didn’t want to. No other excuse, I simply just wasn’t in the best of spaces.

I promised myself a while ago that I wouldn’t post on two occasions; when I feel like the post is trash and I’m just putting it up to meet a deadline and two, when I feel trash. Both of these make Quite Frankly seem like a chore/job which is so far from what it is. I want it to reflect my headspace, my mood and be something I want to do rather than I’m forced to do. So yeah, a long winded answer as to why I decided to not post anything during exam season. It just would have reflected a very trash space I was in.

Anyway, in the month that I was gone, a lot changed. I thought before jumping back into the regular spin of things, I should probably catch you guys up on what you’ve all missed so here we go.

1. I finished my undergraduate degree.

I’ve said that sentence so many times and it still sounds so weird. 3 years of my undergraduate degree have finally come to an end and I just have to thank God. With the submission of my dissertation on “interoception and anxiety” and my final neuroscience exam, I became an unofficial graduate. Lemme know if you have any questions about my dissertation topic because 6000 words later and endless hours testing participants? I think I’m an expert now.

University was definitely an experience, one that I don’t regret by any means because I definitely wanted that degree but Lord? It was hard. University is not for the faint hearted at all, so be ever so sure that it’s something you’re willing to commit to. I’m not done with education yet but I’m so glad to be finished with final year. Also not for the faint hearted. For those of you who finished undergrad with me? Congratulations! I’m so proud of our accomplishment. It’s not about when you graduate, it’s the fact that you graduated that’s amazing. Like I said, university is not a bloody joke.

2. I turned 21.

June 1st. That’s when your girl turned 21.

I’m not a birthday person by any means, I just say my prayer of thanks for another year of life and keep it stepping. That might be due to the fact that it’s always exam season around my birthday and people (including myself) are on that education grind. This year, I had no excuse though. I had no commitments that would prevent me from celebrating and living my best life and I was turning this big milestone age. I had to show out and so I decided to head to The Ends Festival in Croydon. This was the first festival of its kind and I hope it happens again next year. The vibes were phenomenal and my friends made sure we stayed lit and had a great time.

My girls showed out for me and I’ll never forget it – catch them in my bridal party x. In conclusion, I think I’ve been converted. It’s the first time since I was probably like 14 that I actually did something on my birthday and I’m down to make this a tradition. As childish as it sounds, being surrounded by people I love, music I love and just fantastic vibes definitely brought back that birthday spark and I felt so blessed. 22? We go again.

3. This summer is about to be a different type of lit.

I have such a good feeling about this summer. Maybe it’s because I just turned 21, but something is saying this summer is about to be nothing but fantastic vibes. I have so many events, trips and link ups with my girls planned and yes, Quite Frankly is coming with. She is me, I am she. We are one. I hope you’re all planning to match my fly and my energy by heading out into the sunshine and doing up City Girls. It’s definitely a City Girls and Stallion Summer so don’t get caught out ladies! It’s either you show out with your friends or you show out alone! “We move or I move” as Mela says! Men, whatever your equivalent is? Keep that in mind and also move mad this summer. We all deserve it!

And with that, y’all are caught up. This was a long one I think but that’s the run down of what you’ve missed since I was gone. I plan to be around all summer so no more catch ups from now.

See y’all in the next one.

P.S: There’s not one, but two new playlists up on the playlist page. One for June and one for the summer vibe we must all catch. Enjoy and stay saucy x

with all my love,

  1. Congratulations on completing Uni, whoop! And happy belated birthday 🙂 . Just a little advice, I think you should block out our lecturer’s name and email address for security. You’ve told us what uni you went to and there are bad mind people out there who could use this information to do harm (e.g. emailing your lecturer about you).

    1. Thank you so much! Thanks for the heads up as well because I didn’t even think of that lol, but you’re so right! People be wild out here.
